Alisa's 17th: The China Club

Been blogging really behind time lately... Here is the more than a mth overdue photos of The China Club where we celebrated Alisa's 17th birthday!

Birthday girl with Brian and Trixie before we left home.

Pretty sculptures outside GIC Building where the restaurant takes up the 52nd storey.

Private lift to take us up!

Only 2 buttons! Ground floor and the restaurant floor!

Authentic looking interior greeted us as the lift doors opened.

Lush deco!!! Just like in Shanghai Tang movies where rich Chinese businessmen gathered. The China Club is among the few exclusive hang-out of local traders where they wined, dined and entertained. Entrance is by invitation only and since mama has already retired, I wonder when her "invitation" will laspe.

Miniature library with financial references for the target market.

Alisa, me and Trixie.

At the shopfront.

Mimicking old, water-marked mirrors...

Sashay of skirts!

Textured wallpaper and Alisa trying to look seductive. :P

Chairman Mao. HOHOHO!

The restaurant is seperated into different wings.

This is the side with the slight western touch...

Airy, soft curtains.

Colonial lampshades with ratten windows.

And stained glass paintings?

Birthday girl and me!

Day-time view of the financial district.

Night-view of the boats.

Playing with curtains.

Finally, our sitting wing...

Like the ceiling... Can incorporate light.

Table setting.

Communist-styled menu.

But we kids soon found the menu too painful to look at. Everything is charged per person and not by dish like in other restaurants. Each table was allocated 3 waitresses to cater to your every need and they were busying over mommy so the rest of us camwhored. :)

Trixie!

Brian!

Me!

Alisa!

Brian and Trixie!

Alisa and Me!

After awhile, it seemed pretty obvious we were bored so the staff brought papers over to occupy us. LOL!

Appetizer!

Shreaded sharksfin soup. 100% pure sharksfin.

2nd sharksfin dish, whole intact sharksfin for EACH ONE OF US!

But I don't like sharksfin so I traded mine for Szechuan Soup instead. Yum!

Sauteed whole scallop on bed of enoki mushrooms.

King prawn on baby asparagus, topped with fish roe.

Some sorta shellfish stirfried with garlic.

Baby kailan, flowering segment only. NO LEAVES!!!!!!!!

Birthdays can't do without longevity noodles right? :)

Sesame pancake!!!!

I had Gui Ling Gao because I was coughing pretty badly during tt period.

Pu-er tea.

In the toilet while the patient brother waited outside.

THANK YOU MAMA!!!!

This rounds up my first visit to The China Club and it cost mommy a bill of $800. No wonder she took so long to bring us. Poo!

Came home and Alisa got an Intercontinental Hotel cake.

Caramel and apple flavour. Niceeeeeeeee~
